Please wait...The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is what happens when David Bowie decides normal rock music is far too boring and invents an alien rock star sent to Earth to save humanity with glitter, platform boots, and emotional damage. Ziggy Stardust strutted around like a cosmic messiah who’d just discovered hairspray and amphetamines at the same time, turning every concert into a beautiful fever dream somewhere between science fiction and a nightclub brawl. Bowie committed so hard to the character that half the audience probably left wondering whether they’d witnessed a concert or first contact. Even now, Ziggy feels less like an album and more like proof that the universe occasionally lets one bloke become cooler than everyone else for a few years just to keep things interesting.
